One develops new third-degree burn treatment

Until recently, complete cure of heavy-burned skin has been considered impossible. But US-based PolarityTE has proved a negative. Its new technology called SkinTE is able to fully recover skin after third-degree burns. Besides, even hair is grown again according to Engadget website.

Truly speaking, this technology has been only tested on pigs and not on people. But specialists say that pig skin is very similar to human one in terms of its features, which predicts SkinTE a high potential in the future.

Researches have not yet reveled the functional concept of the technology. They have just provided general description and photos on the official project website. Published data shows that SkinTE is based on the procedure of replacing injured skin cells by healthy ones taken of unburned body areas.
