In Europe new self-testing devices for blood coagulation are available

Roche Diagnostics has developed a portative device for assessing blood coagulation. System called CoaguChek INRange allows patients to perform required analyses on their own and send obtained results to their consulting physician.

According to researches, patients who measure blood coagulation every three days, have more chances to maintain normal PT-INR values. But patients, taking Vitamin K antagonist anticoagulants, sometimes cannot go to the medical center for tests, and as a result efficiency of therapy decreases. A compact device for self-monitoring solves this problem.

CoaguChek INRange can measure blood coagulation in 1 minute, and patients can immediately see the results, as compared to several days needed for lab results. Using this device does not require any special knowledge or skills. Analysis is performed with the help of testing stripes and whole blood, which is sampled quickly, and almost painlessly.

In contrast to its predecessor, CoaguChek INRange can connect to smartphone or any other mobile device through Bluetooth. Special application allows patients to send their test results with commentaries to physician, compare obtained results with previous findings and to set up reminders to take medication, do another test or go to the medical center.
